Trimpley Heavy Horse Festival

Horse power of the past ....

Mike, Alison and their family are organising a show at Mikes farm in Trimpley, Nr Bewdley, Worcestershire on Sunday 25 July 2010. This will  be the 8th year that show has been running and each year it goes from strength to strength.  There will be lots of attractions to include tractor and trailer rides, horse and cart rides, donkey rides, a companion dog show, trade stands, car boot, bouncy castle, quad bikes and a whole lot more, making it a great family day out.  All proceeds from the show will be going to the local church at Trimpley, to the Air Ambulance and to the Suffolk Punch Heavy Horse Society.

The festival opens at 10.30 and admission prices are £3.00 for Adults, Children and OAP's £2.00.

Your support is needed to help keep the rare breeds alive and kicking. The event will be signposted off the A442 Kidderminster to Bridgnorth Road.

Mike Clarke and his daughter Alison, from Bewdley, are busy Agricultural Contractors and Farmers.  To give them a break from the usual rigours of a very hectic life and to fulfil a lifelong dream they started breeding Suffolk Punch Heavy Horses 12 years ago.

They were attracted to the Suffolk Punch because they wanted a heavy horse that was short and stocky and one with a kind temperament but one of the main factors involved in their choice was that this breed is on the Rare Breeds Survival List.

The Suffolk Punch is rarer than the Chinese Panda and there are only 276 registered horses that are known of today.  The Suffolk Punch can be traced back to one horse known as Crisp Horse of Ufford which foaled in 1768, meaning that the Suffolk Horse has the oldest Stud Book in the Country.
