Bewdley museum re-opens with a packed programme

BEWDLEY Museum re-opened over Easter weekend with a packed season of events lined up.....
Families can also enjoy two new exhibitions of local interest that are open daily between 10am and 4pm in the museum galleries and craft activities during the school holiday period.
Ruth Finney, museum development officer, said: &ldquoWe have a busy and varied programme lined up which we hope will attract even more visitors to the museum.
Visitors can take part in a day of craft activities and hands-on taster sessions with some of Worcestershire's most talented craft groups and the museum's resident craft workers.
The event on May 3 will feature brick making, besom brooms and willow weaving.
Ruth explained craft demonstrations had always been part of the museum&rsquos activities, as it is one of only two places in the country where ropes are made using traditional equipment.
Councillor Marcus Hart, Wyre Forest District Council cabinet member for community and partnership services, said: &ldquoEveryone will be pleased that the museum is open again.
The new displays, activities, craft studios and café were a tremendous success last season and last year more than 108,000 people visited the popular attraction to see the improvements made to the facilities and displays funded by the Heritage Lottery.
&ldquoThe museum is in the heart of Bewdley and is one of our main tourist attractions in the district. Free admission means that everyone can enjoy a visit. &ldquo For more information and to view the full programme visit wyreforestdc.gov.uk/museum or call 01299 403573.
